FAQ

Q. Do I need to pay a deposit?

A. It depends on the size of the job and the length it will take to complete.  Smaller jobs such as window replacement, bathroom installations, etc.  that have a short turn around of under two weeks will not require a deposit and we will invoice you on completion.  Larger contracts that will be carried out over several weeks or months will require a payment schedule that will be agreed on confirmation of your order. In some cases for example a conservatory order where we have to outlay a large sum of money for materials we ask customers to pay a deposit.

Q. Do you offer a guarantee?

A. We have NHBC accreditation that offers the assurance of a 10 year guarantee on all new build homes. See www.NHBC.co.uk  for further information.  We offer a 12 month guarantee on any home improvements work carried out against material defect and workmanship.   There is a written 10 year guarantee on pvcu windows, doors and conservatories, which covers you for material defects and workmanship.  This guarantee does not cover for damage caused by extreme weather conditions.  A 5 year guarantee is provided on double glazed units for new windows and doors.

Q. I’ve had a bad experience with builders in the past how can you assure me that you are different?

A. There are many cowboy companies operating in the area in the business for short term gains. Often they will go bust and re-emerge with a different name six months later.  Leonard Builders has been successfully in business since 1968.  We are well known locally and have an enviable reputation as both a business and an employer.  The majority of the employees have been with us between ten and twenty years so you can feel confident that you are in experienced hands.  If requested we can provide details of previous satisfied customers.  The majority of our work comes from word of mouth recommendation or repeat custom which stands testament to our commitment to quality and service.

Q. Do I need Planning Permission or a Building Warrant?

A. We will assess each project on the individual merits and advise you what paperwork is necessary.  We have an affiliation with a number of local Architects and Engineers and can arrange any necessary documents on your behalf.

Q. How long will the job take to complete?

A. This will depend on the type of work you are having carried out.  For example our joiners can fit approximately three to four windows in a day and some additional labour hours may required for plaster repairs and silicon pointing.  A straightforward kitchen of bathroom installation can normally be completed in under a week.  A standard sunroom or conservatory build will take three to four weeks.  We can provide estimated time frames for your individual project before work commences.  We can’t unfortunately plan for all eventualities such as the weather, stock deliveries,  etc.  We will do our utmost to keep you informed of any delays.
